Melissa Rae, MS, PA-C
OB/GYN Physician Assistant at Preferred Women's Health
“I have wanted to practice medicine for as long as I can remember. I chose to become a physician assistant because it allows me to practice medicine in a team environment. I enjoy providing care and education to improve patients’ overall health.
I chose the field of OB/GYN because I find great reward in caring for women through their pregnancies, assisting in health maintenance, and providing healthy options to women. I like being a resource for women to turn to for managing their health. Knowing that I can make a difference by providing professional, compassionate care is vital to me in the daily practice of medicine.”
Before joining Preferred Women’s Health, Melissa served in the obstetric triage department at St. John Detroit Riverview Hospital. She was also part of the St. John Detroit Riverview OB/GYN Associates group through St. John Hospital and Medical Center, where she practiced both in the hospital and in the office setting. Melissa had a key role in initiating the public cord blood banking program at St. John Detroit Riverview Hospital.
Melissa is a proud graduate of Wayne State University. She enjoys reading, boating, and scrapbooking in her spare time.
